DIABETES + HYPERTENSION · AVENTURA, FL
Diabetes and high blood pressure can damage the blood vessels inside your eyes long before you notice any change in vision. A yearly medical eye exam catches it early, while it can still be treated.

Recommended eye exam for everyone with diabetes
Retinal imaging usually without dilation
Results sent to your physician
Caring for Aventura families since
These conditions often start without symptoms. Imaging lets us see them — and track them — before they affect your sight.
Damaged retinal blood vessels that leak or bleed, the leading cause of vision loss in working-age adults.
Swelling in the center of the retina that blurs reading and fine detail.
Narrowed or leaking vessels caused by high blood pressure.
A blocked retinal vein that can cause sudden blurred vision in one eye.
Diabetes raises glaucoma risk, so we check pressure and the optic nerve every visit.
Cataracts tend to form earlier with diabetes. We grade and track them.
WHY IT MATTERS
The retina is the only place in the body where a doctor can look directly at blood vessels. Changes there reflect how diabetes and blood pressure are affecting you, and catching them early means treatment can protect your sight. We send a report to your primary care doctor or endocrinologist so everyone on your care team sees the same picture.

YOUR VISIT
About 30–45 minutes. Bring your glasses, a list of your medications and your latest A1C if you have it.
We note your diabetes type, A1C, blood pressure and medications, and any changes you've noticed.
Digital retinal photos and, when needed, an OCT scan — usually without dilating drops.
Vision, prescription, eye pressure and a close look at the retina and optic nerve, with images shown to you.
A report to your physician, and a referral to a retina specialist if treatment is needed.
Diabetic and hypertension eye exams are medical visits and are usually billed to your medical insurance. Without insurance, a medical eye visit is $150. We check your coverage first.

Excellent experience from start to finish! I had my eye exam here and purchased two pairs of glasses. The entire process was quick and easy, and the store is beautiful and very welcoming. Everyone who helped me was extremely friendly, professional, and attentive. A special thank you to Beth, who went above and beyond to make sure I had a great experience. Highly recommended! It is a true pleasure to write this 5 star review because I had an exceptional experience from beginning to end. Dr. Bollar and Amor (Technician) were a delight to deal with. Dr. Bollar was very patient, listened carefully, and took her time to understand my lengthy vision history. She took a deep interest in my situation and kept tweaking my prescription until we both felt it was as perfect as possible. I could tell that she really strives for perfection as well as her patient's satisfaction. After the exam, both Dr. Bollar and Amor helped me select a frame that was ideal for my face. They have an excellent selection of frames and I found one that I am really looking forward to wearing. At no time during my visit did I feel rushed or pressured, and I found their prices to be very reasonable. The entire experience was first-class and I highly recommend their services. Thank you Doctor and Amor! I am very happy to be your patient and customer, and I will definitely refer my friends and family to you.Posted on Google![]()

Style site provides excellent services with a smile. They are genuine and will go above and beyond to help clients. I feel confident with Dr. Phillips, Dr. Boller, and other personnel at Style Site. They know their jobs or profession and are very good at it. I trust their judgment when it comes to eye wear. I sincerely thank them for all they do!

Usually not — our retinal imaging captures a wide view of the retina without drops in most cases. If a closer look is needed, Dr. Bollar will explain why.
It's a medical exam, so it's usually billed to your medical insurance rather than your vision plan. We'll check your coverage before your visit.
Yes. We send a report to your primary care doctor or endocrinologist after the exam.
