Glasses are custom-fit medical equipment. Even a tiny tilt changes how light passes through your lenses, which is why crooked frames cause eye strain, headaches and vision that is never quite sharp. A skilled optician can put all of that right in minutes.
Temple arm realignment
The most common fix: crooked frames straightened so they sit level and both lenses sit the same distance from your eyes.
Frame straightening
Bends and twists from a drop or from sitting on your glasses, worked back to the frame’s original shape.
Nose pad adjustment & replacement
Hardened or discolored pads swapped out; width and angle set so they stop sliding and stop leaving red marks.
Screw tightening

DIY VS. A PROFESSIONAL
The only repair we’d suggest doing at home: tightening a screw
Anything beyond that is where good intentions turn into snapped frames — and a DIY fix usually voids the manufacturer’s warranty. A professional adjustment or repair never does.
Don’t heat frames at home
Hairdryers and hot water warp acetate, bubble lens coatings and ruin the fit. We use a professional frame warmer that heats evenly.
Don’t bend metal nose-pad arms
They snap at the solder point with one wrong move — a much harder repair than the original problem.
Never reach for super glue
It clouds lenses on contact, eats frame finishes and makes a proper repair almost impossible afterwards.

Screw tightening, straightening a bent arm and standard nose-pad swaps are done while you wait. Adjustments and minor repairs are free for life on frames purchased from us; on glasses bought elsewhere there is a small charge, quoted before we start.
Bigger repairs: quoted up front
Soldering, hinge replacement and lens replacement take longer and carry a fee that depends on the frame material and parts. You get a precise quote first, every time.

SCRATCHED OR CRACKED LENSES
Scratches can’t be buffed out — but your frames can get new lenses
Modern prescription lenses carry anti-reflective, scratch-resistant, UV and smudge-resistant coatings. Toothpaste, baking soda and polish strip those coatings and leave the lens hazy. If a scratch sits where you look, or your fingernail catches in it, the practical fix is a fresh pair of lenses cut to your exact prescription and fitted into the frame you already own.

Do I need an appointment for a repair or adjustment?
No. Walk in any time we’re open — Monday to Friday 9 to 5 and Saturday 9 to 2. Most adjustments are done while you wait. If you’d like to make sure an optician is free, call ahead and we’ll be ready for you.
Do you fix glasses that weren’t bought at Style Site Optical?
Yes. We repair and adjust glasses and sunglasses from any store, online retailer or brand.
How much does a repair cost?
Adjustments, screw tightening and nose pads are free for life on frames purchased from us. On glasses bought elsewhere there is a small charge for the same work. Soldering, hinge replacement and lens replacement carry a fee that depends on the frame material and the parts needed — we quote it before we start, so there are never surprises.
How often should my glasses get a professional tune-up?
At least once a year, and any time they start slipping, feel crooked or become uncomfortable. Children’s glasses take more abuse and grow with them — bring those in every three to six months.
Can you fix any pair of broken glasses?
Most metal frames can be soldered back to like-new. A clean break on the bridge of a plastic or acetate frame is harder and may not hold long-term. Bring all the pieces and we’ll give you an honest assessment of whether a repair will last or whether replacement makes more sense.
Will a repair or adjustment void my warranty?
No — professional adjustments and repairs are exactly what manufacturers expect. What does void a warranty is a DIY attempt with glue, heat or household tools.
Can you remove scratches from my lenses?
Not without damaging the lens coatings, and neither can home remedies. If a scratch is in your line of sight, we replace the lenses in your existing frame with new ones in your prescription.
Should I repair my old glasses or buy new ones?
Repair if you love the frame and it needs a simple fix. If the frame needs a major overhaul and your prescription is more than a year or two old, an eye exam and a new pair is usually the smarter investment — we’ll tell you honestly which applies.
