Why Slowing Myopia Matters
Every additional diopter of nearsightedness stretches the eye a little more. Over a lifetime, higher myopia means a meaningfully greater risk of retinal detachment, glaucoma, myopic maculopathy and early cataracts.

Myopia Management Plan & Stellest Fitting
$450 + frame
If your child is a good candidate, we design a plan, choose a frame and order Stellest lenses. Stellest lenses are $450 for the pair; the frame is priced separately and depends on the style your child picks.
STEP 3
Progress Check-ups
Every 6 months
Regular follow-ups to track how well the treatment is working and adjust as your child grows — usually until the late teens.

Myopia Control FAQs
Is myopia control safe for children?
Yes. Stellest lenses are standard spectacle lenses with a special surface design. There are no drops, no overnight wear and nothing that touches the eye, so they are one of the gentlest myopia-control options available. Dr. Bollar monitors every child on a regular schedule.
At what age should we start?
As soon as myopia is diagnosed, ideally between ages 6 and 12, when eyes grow fastest and treatment has the biggest impact. Older teens can still benefit if their prescription is still changing.
How is this different from regular glasses?
Regular single-vision lenses only correct blurry vision; the eye keeps elongating and the prescription keeps climbing. Stellest lenses correct vision and send a signal that slows that elongation.
How much does myopia control cost?
The first step is a comprehensive pediatric eye exam ($140), which most vision plans cover. If your child is a candidate, we quote the myopia management plan and Stellest lenses at that visit, since pricing depends on prescription and frame choice.
Does insurance cover Stellest lenses?
Vision plans such as VSP and EyeMed typically apply their standard lens and frame allowances, and the remaining balance is paid privately. We'll show you exactly how your benefits apply before you order.
How long does my child stay in treatment?
Most children continue until their late teens, when eye growth naturally slows. We re-check every six months and will tell you when it's safe to move to standard lenses.
