Miami Eye Doctor, Dr. Bollar and Style Site Optical Launch “Eyes Wide Open” Initiative to Combat Rising Myopia Rates in Miami Youth
Aventura, FL — February 1st, 2026 — As part of Kids’ Eye Health Month, local Miami eye doctor Dr. Teresita Bollar and Style Site Optical are launching a city-wide initiative to address a growing health crisis: “Digital Myopia.” With childhood nearsightedness on the rise due to increased screen time, Style Site Optical is putting out a creative call-to-action for students, offering over $10,000 in total incentives and cash prizes.
According to recent studies, children are spending record amounts of time on handheld devices, leading to a significant increase in myopia (nearsightedness). Style Optical’s new initiative, the “Eyes Wide Open” Creative Challenge, encourages students to put down the tablets and celebrate the “real world” through art and writing.
“We are seeing kids develop vision issues earlier than ever before,” says Dr. Teresita Bollar, owner of Style Site Optical. “This isn’t just about glasses; it’s about eye health. We want to reward kids for being mindful of their vision and introduce parents to new myopia control technologies that can actually slow down the progression of nearsightedness.”
The Challenge Details:
- Elementary Students: Draw a picture of your favorite outdoor activity or something you love to see that isn’t on a screen.
- High School Students: Submit a 200-word “Digital Wellness Tip” or essay on the importance of balancing tech with eye health.
- The Rewards: Every student who drops off their entry at Style Site Optical will receive a $50 Gift Certificate (valid toward a complete pair of prescription glasses).
- The Grand Prize: Three lucky winners will be selected to receive a $250 Cash Scholarship for their future education.
